HMV Institute Birmingham
Having started off life as a church and then civic hall over the last thirty years the previously called Digbeth Institute has been an essential part of Birmingham’s live music and club scene and is well worth a visit by stags and hens on your weekend in Birmingham.
Following an untimely closure the venue was purchased and reopened in 2010 following a multi million pound refurbishment that incorporated restoring the building’s striking fascia, period features from its original incarnation as an early 20th century church and reinstituting the multi room nature of the interior.
The venue is now named the HMV institute and has three main areas:- The Library Area (capacity 600), The Institute Area (capacity 1,500), and the top floor venue The Temple (capacity 300) with separate VIP area.
This legendary venue has hosted bands like Pink Floyd, Joni Mitchell, the Human League, Arctic Monkeys and The Cure over the years and continues to host many other leading names from the world of music including:- The Maccabees, Boyz 2 Men, Labrinth, Rizzle Kicks, Maverick Sabre, Nero and even Tinie Tempah to name but a few.
