Birmingham City Football Club
One half of an intense second city footballing rivalry, Birmingham City Football Club or “The Blues” as they are known play their football close to Birmingham City Centre at their famous old ground St Andrews. For those stags or hens after a football fix they provide one of two choices for a football injection into your stag or hen weekend.
Being a Birmingham City football fan can be a bit of a rollercoaster experience with a lot of highs and lows during a season as was evident during the 2010/11 season where a first major trophy win since 1955 was followed shortly thereafter by relegation from the Premier League.
One thing that stags and hens after a football fix should be in no doubt about though is that is you will always get a good day out should you head to the ground for some football. St Andrews is in a traditional location for football grounds a short walk outside of the centre in an area full of pubs for pre and post match pints and the team will always give you excitement on the pitch.
To get to the ground you can either walk about 20 minutes from the city centre, get one of many local bus services that stop near to the ground or get the train from Moor Street or Snow Hill stations to Bordesley close to the ground. (please note though trains only stop there on match days and can be quite infrequent)
If Birmingham are not playing on the weekend of your stag or hen party then you can still enjoy the history of this great club by going on one of the club’s stadium tours. Here over the course of an hour and half a friendly tour guide will take you to areas of the club not normally open to the public as he tells tales of the history of the club and its many players.
